Stone Surface care & Maintenance FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clean my stone surfaces?

For everyday cleaning, warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner are generally recommended. Specific care requirements may vary depending on the material selected. Detailed care and maintenance guides are available for all surface types supplied by AMU Stone.

Can natural stone stain?

Natural stone is a porous material and can be susceptible to staining if spills are left unattended. Prompt cleaning and appropriate sealing help minimise this risk.

Can I place hot pots directly on my benchtop?

While many stone surfaces have excellent heat resistance, we recommend using trivets or heat protection wherever possible to help preserve the surface and reduce the risk of thermal shock.

Will my natural stone change over time?

Natural stone may develop subtle changes over time depending on the material and environment. Many clients view this as part of the natural character and ageing process of the material.

Does porcelain require sealing?

No. Porcelain is a non-porous surface and does not require sealing.

Does manufactured stone require sealing?

Most modern crystalline silica-free manufactured stone surfaces do not require sealing due to their non-porous nature.

Where can I find care and maintenance information?

AMU Stone provides care and maintenance guides for natural stone, porcelain and manufactured stone surfaces. Our team can also provide product-specific recommendations based on the material selected.
