THE IMPORTANCE OF SLAB SELECTION

No Two Natural Stone Slabs Are Identical.

Viewing a full slab allows you to understand the scale, movement and unique characteristics of the material before fabrication begins. It also allows vein direction, bookmatching opportunities and key features to be planned, ensuring the finished result reflects the full beauty of the stone.

This is why we encourage every client considering natural stone to view their slabs in person wherever possible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do natural stone benchtops need sealing?

Most natural stones benefit from sealing to help protect against staining and everyday use. The recommended sealer and maintenance schedule varies depending on the type of stone selected. Our team will recommend the most appropriate care products and maintenance requirements for your chosen material to help keep it looking its best for years to come.

What's the difference between marble & quartzite?

Each natural stone has its own unique characteristics, making it suited to different applications and design styles. Marble is renowned for its elegant veining and timeless beauty, making it a popular choice for bathrooms, fireplaces and feature applications. Quartzite offers similar natural appeal with greater hardness and durability, making it particularly well suited to busy kitchen benchtops and high-use areas.

Granite is one of the most durable natural stones available, valued for its strength, resistance to heat and everyday performance. Limestone offers softer movement and earthy tones, creating a warm, understated aesthetic, while dolomite combines the refined appearance of marble with increased durability, making it a popular choice for both kitchens and bathrooms.

Our team will guide you through the characteristics of each material and help you select the natural stone best suited to your project, lifestyle and design vision.

Can I view the full slab before purchasing?

Yes. We highly recommend viewing full slabs before making your final selection. At our Wangaratta Selection Centre, you can view the exact slab that will be used for your project, allowing you to appreciate its scale, movement and natural variation before fabrication begins. Viewing the full slab also helps with planning vein direction, book matching and the overall layout, ensuring you’re completely confident in your selection.

Is natural stone suitable for kitchens?

Absolutely. Many natural stones, including granite and quartzite, are excellent choices for kitchen benchtops due to their strength and durability. Marble, Limestone and Dolomite is also used in kitchens but may require additional care depending on the application and intended use.

Can natural stone be used outdoors?

Yes. Many natural stones perform exceptionally well outdoors when the correct material and finish are selected. Our team will recommend the most suitable options based on your project, location and exposure to the elements.

Is natural stone heat, scratch and stain resistant?

Natural stone is a durable surface, but its resistance to heat, scratches and staining varies depending on the material selected. Granite and quartzite are known for their exceptional durability, while marble, limestone and dolomite may require additional care depending on the application and how they are used.

No natural stone is completely heat, scratch or stain proof. Using trivets for hot cookware, chopping boards during food preparation and cleaning spills promptly will help preserve the beauty of your stone for years to come.
